Oatmeal with Walnuts & Banana

🎯 Difficulty: Very Easy

⏱️ Time: 10–15 minutes

🍽️ Servings: 1–2

🧂 Ingredients

  • Rolled oats: 1/2 cup (or quick oats)
  • Milk or water: 1 cup (or more, depending on texture preference)
  • Banana: 1 (sliced or mashed)
  • Walnuts: 2–3 tablespoons (chopped)
  • Cinnamon (optional): a pinch
  • Honey or maple syrup (optional): for extra sweetness
  • Salt: a pinch (optional)

👨‍🍳 Step-by-step Instructions

Step 1: Cook Oats

  • In a small pot, bring milk or water to a gentle boil.
  • Add oats and stir well.
  • Cook over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 5–7 minutes until thick and creamy.

Step 2: Add Banana

  • When oats are almost done, stir in sliced or mashed banana.
  • Let it cook for 1–2 more minutes so the banana softens and blends with the oatmeal.
  • (For babies, use mashed banana.)

Step 3: Add Walnuts

  • Stir in chopped walnuts just before removing from heat.
  • Reserve a few pieces for garnish if desired.
  • (For toddlers, chop very finely or grind walnuts.)

Step 4: Finish & Serve

  • Pour oatmeal into a bowl.
  • Top with extra banana slices and walnuts.
  • Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if using.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.

💡 Tips

  • Use almond or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
  • To make it creamier, add a spoon of yogurt or nut butter on top.
  • For babies under 1 year, skip honey and salt.
  • Walnuts can be pre-toasted for more aroma.
