  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion or celery (optional for texture)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 slices of sandwich bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for grilling)

🍳 Instructions

1. Make the Tuna Salad:

  1. In a bowl, combine drained tuna, mayonnaise, mustard (if using), and chopped onion or celery.
  2. Mix well until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

2. Assemble the Sandwich:

  1. Lay the two slices of bread on a clean surface.
  2. Place one slice of cheese on the bottom slice of bread.
  3. Spread the tuna salad evenly over the cheese.
  4. Top with the second slice of cheese.
  5. Cover with the other slice of bread to make a sandwich.

3. Grill the Sandwich:

  1. Heat a nonstick skillet or pan over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter on the outside of both bread slices.
  3. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, pressing down gently with a spatula, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.

4. Serve:

  • Remove from pan, slice in half if desired, and serve hot.

💡 Tips:

  • Add slices of tomato or avocado inside for more flavor and calories.
  • For extra crunch, toast the bread slightly before assembling.
  • You can also use a panini press for an even golden crust.
