Welcome back, warriors! 👋
If you’ve reached Green Belt, congratulations — you’ve already built a strong foundation of stances, basic punches, and fundamental kicks. Today, in our Class 2, we’re going to take things further with kicking combinations and balance training. These two skills are absolutely essential if you want to kick with both power and control. ⚡🦵
🔑 Focus of Class 2
✅ Kicking Combinations – Learning how to chain kicks together smoothly, keeping your rhythm and footwork under control.
✅ Balance Training – Developing stability in every stance and kick, so you can strike with precision without losing your center.
1. Kicking Combinations 🌀
As a Green Belt, you’re expected to start linking techniques instead of throwing them one at a time. Here are two combinations to master:
Combo 1: Front Kick → Roundhouse Kick (Ap Chagi → Dollyo Chagi)
- Chamber your front kick high, snap out and recoil.
- As the foot returns, pivot your base foot, turn your hips, and deliver a roundhouse kick with the same leg.
- Land in a strong stance, guard up.
Coaching tip: Think smooth, not rushed. Each kick flows into the next.
Combo 2: Side Kick → Back Kick (Yop Chagi → Dwi Chagi)
- Chamber for a side kick, extend with the heel strike.
- As you recoil, spin your body naturally, spot the target, and throw a back kick with power.
- Reset into guard.
Coaching tip: Keep your eyes on the target — spotting is key for accuracy and safety.
2. Balance Training 🧘♂️
Kicks mean nothing without control. To improve balance:
- One-leg stance hold: Lift one knee to chamber height and hold for 30s each leg. Increase time each week.
- Slow kick drill: Perform front/side kicks in slow motion (5–7 seconds per kick). This builds leg strength and stability.
- Core engagement: Always tighten your abs when balancing — your center is your anchor.
🥋 Why It Matters
By practicing these combinations and balance drills, you’ll:
💪 Build explosive kicking power
⚖️ Develop control and stability
🔥 Prepare for higher-level sparring and patterns
Final Words ✨
Green Belt is a turning point in your Taekwondo journey. It’s where your training starts looking less like “practice” and more like martial art in motion. 🌊 Every kick, every stance, every breath now becomes part of a flow.
So, stay focused, train with consistency, and always remember: control is as important as power.
See you in the next class, warriors! 🥋💚⚡
